Arrival of the City of Peking

Unusually Quick Passage Both Going and Coming

The Pacific Mail Steamship Company's steamer City of Peking arrived yesterday afternoon, quite unexpectedly, the time for her appearance having been fixed for Thursday. The steamer left Hongkong April 1st, and is consequently only twenty-seven days from that port; left Yokohama April 10th, making eighteen days. The vessel attracted a great deal of attention in both China and Japan, the papers publishing full descriptions. Following are the memoranda and list of passengers by the City of Peking.

Memoranda

Leoft Hongkong April lst, 1875, at 1:03 p. m.; arrived at Yokohama April 6th, at 9 a.m. Had bad weather off the coast of Japan. Left Yokohama April 10th, at 5 a.m. The sea has been very rough all the way home. April 23d, D. Riken Elder, of New York cabin passenger, died. April 27th, at 10 a.m., passed a full rigged duble topsail ship, showing American colors, bound in. Arrived in port April 28th, at 1:30 p.m.

Notice is hereby given that the following described merchandise was seized at the times and places hereinfater mentioned, for violation of the Unied States Revenue Laws, to wit:

Item 856— 1 package Water Pipes, 13; 1 package containing Empty Guts, 17; 1 package Hair, 6 pounds; 1 package Fans, 132; 1 Fish Net; 1 package containing 6 Men's Cotton Coats; 6 Women's Cotton Coats; 1 piece Colored Cotton, 35 yards; Wine, 10 bottles; Tobacco, 33 pounds; 1 small jar Opium and 1 can Opium; 4-1/2 ounches gross; 1 bundle Tooth Brushes, 25; 1 bundle Chinese Locks, 3; 1 bundle Ink; 1 bundle Human Hair; 1 bundle Chinese Stockings, 4 pair; 1 bundle Brass Buttons; 2 bundles Opium Pipes, 15; 1 bundle Purses, 49; 1 bundle Silk Cord; 6-1/2 ounces; 1 bundle Silk Sashes, 2 -- seized May 3d, 1875, on steamer City of Peking.
