Passage
The Gold Hunter left San Juan del Sud on December 9th and made the voyage in 23 days, 5 hours. She brought papers from New York to the 22nd of November, but her news was anticipated by the arrival of the SS Northerner from Panama. The Alta reported that they "are indebted to Captain Bodfish for stopping his steamer to allow our marine reporter to come on board; to Purser Dennis for files of papers, memoranda, and other information, and to Berford & Co. for files of New York papers. On the morning of the 28th, a passenger who came on board at Acapulco, named F. Crado, jumped overboard and was drowned notwithstanding the most strenuous exertions were mde to save him. He was believed to have been insane. We do not learn anything further in relation to the revolution in Nicaragua, by this arrival."

We, the undersigned, passengers on board the Gold Hunter, from San Juan del Sud to San Francisco, desire, before leaving the vessel, to express our thanks to Capt. Bodfish, for the kindness and attention we have received from him during the voyage, which , from the crowded state of the vessel, required unusual assiduity.
We likewise feel bound to notice the untiring energy of Capt. Bodfish to the navigation of his vessel; also of Mr. Dennis, Pursuer, Mr. Drenase (spelling ), the Chief Engineer, and his officers to the duties of their departments, and to assure them of our entire confidence in their abilities.
